High School Program & Youth Academy

The International Lyric Academy is celebrating 33 years of success by partnering with Opera Carolina. In 2026, the ILA will offer an intensive program in Vicenza, Italy. Students will be offered a unique life experience and the possibility to perform in Italy.

​

The program’s curriculum includes:

​

- vocal techniques

- private lessons

- master classes

- repertory

- coaching

- elementary stage combat

- physical expression

- care of the voice

- more

 

For select students, participation in concerts, opera scenes, and fully staged operas will be offered (requires an extra week of participation).

​

This is a wonderful program for young and emerging artists. Singers work with Maestro del Coro to prepare ensemble parts in The Marriage of Figaro and Dido & Aeneas. In addition to the full performances, stagings, rehearsals, costuming, and production craft are all part of the ILA experience. Singers participate in weekly vocal lesson, Italian language class as well as have multiple opportunities to participate in master classes. Solo performance opportunities are available at the weekly Florilegium or Grand Gala Concerts. The first payment due is when you are accepted and the second payment due May 15, 2027.

AUDITION REPERTOIRE: Singers: Two Italian arias or art songs. One piece must be sung in Italian; a second piece in Italian or in another language of your choice.

Singers benefit from repertoire and diction coaching, Italian language instruction, master classes, acting, training for auditions, and career strategy.

PROGRAM PRICES: $4500 includes 3-week hotel with roommates, breakfast, but does not include airfare and meals.
