The International Lyric Academy is celebrating 32 years of success by partnering with Opera Carolina. In 2026, the ILA will offer an intensive program in Vicenza, Italy. Students will be offered a unique life experience and the possibility to perform in Italy.

 

During this 3-week program in Italy, young musicians and singers from across the world receive professional coaching and voice lessons, and participate in a full range of masterclasses, individualized instruction, concerts, recitals and rehearsals culminating in 2 performances of THE MAGIC FLUTE by W. A. Mozart.

The International Lyric Academy is the only training program in Italy that offers exclusive agent auditions to participants in the Full Opera and Italian Opera Programs. Throughout the period there will be several opportunities to sing exclusively for Italian agents representing such houses as San Carlo in Naples, Teatro dell’opera in Rome, Arena di Verona and La Scala. This service is free and available only to our best singers.

The Opera productions are a wonderful opportunity for artists. Singers work with the maestros preparing the roles for the 2025 production of two performances of THE MAGIC FLUTE by W. A. Mozart. In addition to the full performances, stagings, rehearsals, costuming, and production craft are all part of the ILA experience. Singers participate in a weekly vocal lesson, Italian language class as well as have multiple opportunities to participate in master classes. Recitals are available at the weekly Florilegium or Grand Gala Concerts.

TO AUDITION: Two arias are required. Prepare an aria from the role(s) for which you wish to audition and an aria in Italian. In addition, please prepare an extended Italian recitative of your choice (from any opera) or a short spoken monologue in Italian. Or send arias from your own repertoire.

PROGRAM PRICE: $5300 includes an air conditioned double room in a 4 stars hotel, with wi-fi and breakfast, but does not include airfare and meals.
